Tough game last night.
Timmy was awesome for the first few games and was solid last night, but the Sox were again stifled by ex-Met Scott Kazmir.
It was Kazmir who the Rays stole from the Mets for Zambrano in possibly their worst acquisition since former Sox MVP Mo Vaughn (where is he anyway? He's still gettin paid, but has been MIA for almost 3 seasons). In his career vs. the Red Sox, Kazzy is 1-1 with a 1.29 ERA and 23 Ks in 4 starts. This guy dominates us.
Tim was saved from the loss, though, when the Sox rallied in the ninth thanks in large part to Bellhorn. Bellhorn, who earlier in the game made an error that led to an unearned run for Wakefield, clubbed a double in the ninth that scored Nixon. Bellhorn moved over on the second sac bunt from Vasquez and scored off of JD's single to tie it 4-4.
It was all over in the ninth though, as Embree gave up a walk-off homer to a pinch hitter.
Bellhorn accounted for four runs in the game as he scored in the fifth, errored in the third, RBI'd in the ninth and scored the tying run.
Wakefield pitched six innings with 7 hits, 3 walks, 2 Ks, 4 runs, 2 earned. He definatly was not as dominate as he had been for the past three starts.
Meanwhile, the bad guys lost in Kevin Brown's home opener. Does anyone else think the Yankee pitchers at some point in this season will implode? Whether its Brown doing something stupid, Johnson out for 60 days with an injury, or the Boss driving Pavano mad, something has got to give here. Are there odds on this?
